We have listened: Bringing back the WMS Page and Component Tree-Select

Ezone is happy to announce the arrival of the Page / Component tree select. Based on the support feedback and our feature voting system, it was certainly one of the most requested features over the past few weeks. The quick implementation and release was therefore our priority.

A small icon is now shown next to all Component and Page select dropdowns. The icon opens a new window that lets user select a page or a component from the tree, rather than trying to find it in the dropdown. This feature is now available to all professional users for free.

We hope you will be satisfied with the tree-select and save time and effort during your site management. We allways seek to improve the WMS experience and we want to listen to what you have to say. You can use our feedback widget to submit your suggestions or vote on existing items.

Activity Logs – Brand new free feature of the WMS

Activity Logs is a brand new exciting feature of the WMS that was just released ! The WMS keeps track of all the users and their activity when editing the site. The new feature will help you view the activity in a meaningful way, get extra information and filter and export the data.

First things first, the Activity Logs feature is available to all the professional clients of the WMS free of charge and can be found under the Manage menu option. (Manage -> Activity Logs).

The Activity Logs lets you filter by a specific user and/or a site in your account, lets you choose specific dates and what’s more, lets you pick specific types of activities from the tree-select. So in a scenario where you would like to see all pages published in the last month, you select start and end dates, tick pages-publish in the tree and confirm by clicking on Filter Activity button. You can tick multiple activities or tick none to see all of them.

All the filtered data can of course be exported to a variety of formats (pdf, csv, word, excel). Getting a montly activity statement for your site editing could not have been easier.

If you have any feedback, let us know via our new “Leave Feedback” button.

Help us make WMS better

We see a constant improvement and free upgrades for all as a crucial part of our WMS product. Furthermore, we believe we should be working on what our customers think is important to them. The WMS release last week launched a new feature that will completely change the way we handle our feedback and suggestions.

Share your ideas, vote on them and we will respond !
The WMS dashboard page now contains a “Leave Feedback” box. When you click on it you can see a list of all the suggestions, made by our clients. If you have a new suggestion, just click on “Make A Suggestion” link and post few lines of what you think should change or improve.

You can also vote on what has been suggested by other users. Click thumbs up on issues you think are important and would help you and thumbs down on items that you think are not relevant to you.

We will consider every suggestion you make, respond to it and give you an estimate of when it can be implemented !

Manage your users’ roles

Roles in the WMS define what parts of the system a particular user has access to. Therefore it is important to know what roles is each user assigned to within your account. WMS offers quick and easy way to look after your user-roles mappings with the new Manage User Roles feature.

Simply click on Users -> Manage User Roles and you can view your mappings either by a single role or by a specific user. The system shows you what users are in a particular role and lets you add or remove them.

The two most important roles related to content editing are Editor and AccountAdministrator. Please note that Manage User Roles is a WMS Professional level feature.

Automatic Image Resizing in WMS

In the new WMS, each image element can contain width and height details. This information not only serves the user to show what the expected size is, but WMS is smart enough to do all the image re-sizing work for you!

When selecting the image, WMS checks the size of the image you selected. It can then tell you the image size is incorrect and offers you a chance to re-size it automatically.

Resizing creates a brand new image and based on the element settings can keep the ratio of your image.

Editing images in the WMS

We believe image management is one of the key aspects of the content management system. However, what if the image isn’t just right – it is too large, edges might need cropped or the whole image needs flipped? In most cases, image editors can help you out. However, this requires the image to be downloaded, edited and then uploaded to the content management system.

WMS offers a different approach – keep your images in your library and edit them in the content management system.

The WMS Image Editor is a brand new feature of the WMS and lets you edit any image in the WMS. The options include

  • Interactive cropping
  • Rotate the image (90,180,270)
  • Image re-sizing
  • Flipping
  • Opacity changes

The changes that you make can be previewed and a brand new image can be created.

Introducing the new WMS Libraries

The brand new WMS4 library means a small revolution in your file management. We threw everything away and started from the scratch. The libraries now offer a wide range of functionality that will save you time and make your life easier when dealing with files.

Start with the basics
The library may look similar, but is packed with powerful stuff

  • Full nested folder tree
  • Multiple file upload
  • Download the files
  • Cut, Copy and Paste

Don’t worry about zip files

WMS libraries now have full zip support. You can download a selection of your files as a zip file or you may want to upload your own zip file and let it auto-extract in the WMS – of course with the entire folder structure.

See your images

Images make up most of the library files. Single images can now be previewed or users may choose to list the entire folder and see the images in the grid.

Publish files directly
Sometimes, files such as documents need to sit on the server. WMS4 lets you to publish files directly from the libraries. Simply just select the files that you want to publish!

Syntax highlighting for Template Editors

Included in last nights WMS4 update (along with a bunch of maintenance work) was a cool new feature for anyone creating or editing templates.

On any of the template code editing screens (WMSElement definitions, creating or editing templates) you will see a new pencil icon. Click on this icon to activate the code syntax highlighting for you template and element definitions, simply click again to revert back!
